Cash and Crime

There have been a number of almost cartoonish quality heist/action films that have been sprouting up across the globe. The over the top characters, fancy camera work, and strange plot lines can sometimes leave you scratching your head and thinking... "what the hell was that?". Poirot won't be releasing Halloween Party for some time, and Murder on the Orient express won't be released until July 11. The nearest date is The Mirror Crack'd from side to side, a Miss Marple who dun it in late May.

Until then, here are a few crime films that range from the old to the fresh, and stay on the lite side.

Germany
Run Lola Run (fantastic!)

Great Britain
Kelly's Heroes
Layer Cake
The Lavender Hill Mob (Alec Guinness)
The Lady Killers (original,1955)
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

Ireland
Shallow Grave

Korea
The Good, the Bad, The Weird

China
Kung Fu Hustle (this is just like a Bugs Bunny cartoon)

France
Rififi - 1956 (Black and white, a bit slower but still great)
Le Circle Rouge
Nikita

Argentina
Nine Queens (Spanish: Nueve Reinas)

Hong Kong
Hard Boiled
Once a Thief
